TEEN Mom Jenelle Evans is ‘in talks to return full time’ after meeting with the show’s executive producer this week in Las Vegas.
An insider opened up to The U.S. Sun about Jenelle‘s big meeting with the show’s longtime EP, Larry Musnick, and what’s in the works behind the scenes for the series’ future.
“Jenelle went to dinner with Farrah Abraham and Ashley Jones, but it wasn’t just them, they were also joined by Larry,” the insider revealed.
“Jenelle is in talks to come back to the show, and I think MTV is in talks with Farrah too,” the source added.
As The U.S. Sun previously reported, Jenelle was briefly brought back for the last season of Teen Mom: Next Chapter, with a trailer featuring her in May of last year.
However, by October it seemed any hopes for Jenelle to continue on with the show had been dashed.
In various Q&As with fans, the former MTV star said she wasn’t being given any information from production and wasn’t sure why they were no longer responding to her.
WHICH OF JENELLE’S KIDS COULD BE ON?
As for which of Jenelle’s three children will appear on the series, one source revealed that David, who has had a tumultuous relationship with MTV, declined when Teen Mom: The Next Chapter producers reached out to request his permission for their seven-year-old daughter, Ensley, to appear on the show.
“David despises MTV. There was no chance he would agree to let them film with Ensley after they fired him and then Jenelle,” an insider shared.
“They’re going to have a tough time working around Ensley—she’s got such a big personality, so I’m not sure how that will play out,” the source added.
Another insider mentioned that MTV contacted Nathan Griffith, the father of Jenelle’s son Kaiser, and he is reportedly open to allowing Kaiser back on the show, as long as the financial arrangements for the nine-year-old’s future are properly secured.
“Nathan understands that the kids being on the show could benefit them in the long run. He’s currently negotiating with MTV and is willing to let Kaiser be filmed, but he wants to ensure the money is safeguarded for his son before giving a final agreement,” the source explained.
Regarding Jace, another insider clarified that since his father, Andrew Lewis, has no custody or rights, he doesn’t have a say in the matter.
As a result, Jace was cleared to participate in filming.
Jenelle was fired from MTV in 2019 following an incident where her then-husband David Eason shot and killed their family dog, Nugget, a French Bulldog.
David later confessed to killing the dog during an interview with People magazine.
“MTV cut ties with David Eason in February 2018 and has not filmed any new episodes of Teen Mom 2 with him since then,” the network stated at the time.
“Furthermore, we ceased filming with Jenelle Eason on April 6, 2019, and there are no plans to include her story in the upcoming season.”
But Jenelle’s casting may be a last-ditch effort to save the show, as OK! Magazine reported there have also been rumblings that the long-running series could be cancelled.
“The cast thinks the show may be canceled because there’s rumblings about that, but honestly, no one knows what’s going on,” a source previously told the outlet.
Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Cast
In September 2022, MTV blended their long-running shows Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 to one series following the young mothers’ experiences raising their kids and co-parenting with their baby dads. Here’s a list of the entire Teen Mom: The Next Chapter cast.
JENELLE PARTS WAYS WITH DAVID
In February of this year, Jenelle filed for separation from David, citing his “erratic” behavior, “substance abuse issues,” and refusal to maintain employment.
The former Teen Mom 2 star publicly criticized David, referencing incidents such as the 2019 killing of their dog Nugget and his current legal troubles, including a felony charge for allegedly strangling her 14-year-old son, Jace, in court documents obtained exclusively by The U.S. Sun.
Jenelle stated that she and David officially separated on February 16, with the intention of making the split permanent. She also referenced David’s alleged assault on Jace in September 2023.
“On or around September 28, 2023, my oldest minor child made a report to medical professionals,” she noted.
Jenelle explained that the sheriff’s office investigated the claims, which led to David being charged with misdemeanor child abuse and felony assault by strangulation.
