Sydney Sweeney’s ascent to megastardom continues, as the Euphoria and Anyone But You star dropped by The Tonight Show earlier this week to discuss her upcoming projects, such as the horror/mystery film Immaculate.
As Fallon mentions in the clip, Sweeney plays a pregnant nun, which, of course, is obviously not allowed by the Catholic church given that nuns take a vow of celibacy.
In addition to talking about the upcoming release of Immaculate, Sweeney also discussed her upcoming gig as host of Saturday Night Live and a potential sequel to her hit romantic-comedy Anyone But You, which has grossed over $230 million at the global box office (at the time of this writing).
Funnily enough, though, Sweeney’s most recent movie, Madame Web, was not discussed, perhaps for obvious reasons.
Check out Sweeney’s entire appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon below.
Here is the official synopsis for Immaculate, via Neon, the studio distributing the film:
Directed by Michael Mohan, Immaculate follows Cecilia (Sweeney), a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent. Her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside is soon interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets.
In addition to Sweeney in the starring role, Immaculate, which she also produced, stars Simona Tabasco (who you may remember from season two of The White Lotus), Alvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Giorgio Colangeli, and Dora Romano.
Immaculate will be released in movie theaters in the United States on Friday, March 22.
Sweeney also has films such as Echo Valley, Eden, and Barbarella in the works, in addition to the eventual third season of Euphoria, which began production in December 2023 and is expected to release in 2025. Alongside Sweeney, Euphoria also features young stars such as Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, and Jacob Elordi.
