Sydney Sweeney’s late April Instagram photo dump came with a sarcastic apology to her haters.
In addition to some pictures of floating down a river with a dog and dancing to mariachi music, the 26-year-old Anyone But You star shared a photo of herself wearing a sweatshirt that says “Sorry for having great t— and correct opinions” (it’s the 7th photo in the below slideshow).
Sweeney’s proud post came after professor and former Hollywood producer Carol Baum was critical of Sweeney in a conversation with the New York Times, saying that she needed Sweeney “explained” to her because she’s “not pretty” and “can’t act.”
After Baum’s comments went public, Sweeney put out the following statement via her representatives, via Variety:
“How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman. If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”
Sweeney was most recently seen starring in the horror film Immaculate, which she also produced. Made for $9 million, Immaculate was released in movie theaters on March 22 and has since made just over $21 million at the global box office.
Earlier this year, Sweeney also starred in Madame Web alongside Dakota Johnson, although the less said about that film, the better.
Late 2023 saw Sweeney star in one of the biggest hits of her career as she featured in the rom-com Anyone But You alongside fellow rising star Glen Powell. Anyone But You has earned over $200 million at the global box office and is likely to spawn a sequel.
Sweeney currently has two films in post-production, Echo Valley and Eden, and is also attached to a remake of Barbarella (which is heavily rumored to be directed by Edgar Wright) and the third season of Euphoria.
