School principal under fire for grilling student who left to use bathroom

TikToker's son tracked at school

A school principal is coming under fire across social media after a student’s mother revealed they were sent a lengthy email questioning why their son went to the bathroom.

Cass, who goes by ‘cassdamm’ on TikTok, has been going viral on the video sharing platform once again as her nearly half a million followers question the actions of a school principal.

Cass’ 15-year-old son was the subject of a “five-paragraph” email from the principal after they tracked his actions outside of class. After allegedly asking for a hall pass to use the bathroom, the student was then tracked on camera going upstairs to purchase a can of soda from a vending machine before returning to class.

This sequence of events came under heavy scrutiny from the school’s leader, much to the surprise of his mom, who went to TikTok to discuss the matter and has since gained plenty of support.

Student comes into question for grabbing a soda

“I have a 15-year-old son, and today his principal took the time to write me a five-paragraph email in which he attached nine photos to complain about something that my son did,” Cass explained.

All nine pictures included timestamps that tracked her son’s actions. After leaving math class with an approved hall pass, he indeed went to the bathroom, as photographic evidence proved, before then grabbing a drink from a vending machine and returning to class.

The principal thought these actions were “so bad that she needed to send multiple paragraphs with screenshots of him doing that.

Cass’ son was tracked for six minutes while they were out of class.

“I’m genuinely just so confused,” the mother stressed, questioning why her son was even being tracked in such a way to begin with. As she revealed through the provided timestamps, her son was out and back into the classroom within six minutes.

“Why were you staring at the cameras to confirm if my son actually went to the bathroom or not? He was not doing anything wrong.”

It turns out, Cass’ son is claimed to have anxiety, in which he has a school-approved 504 plan for, meaning he’s allowed certain accommodations, like being able to leave a classroom at any moment if he feels the need.

“He bought a soda because he has anxiety, and caffeine helps him when he has anxiety. He often has [anxiety] in his math class when he’s trying to keep up,” she further explained.

The original TikTok, which has since gone on to draw almost a million impressions, saw over 4,000 viewers chime in, many of whom showed their support for the mom and her son.

“I would literally reply ‘slow day in the office hub?’” one viewer joked. “It probably took them longer to put this together than it did for your son to get the drink and go back to class,” another added.

Meanwhile, others asked why this seemingly innocuous action caused such a fuss from the principal when some more serious situations can get overlooked.

“Where’s this energy when a kid gets harassed?” one individual asked. “Where are all those cameras when the kids are getting bullied?” another echoed.
