The couple played the part of husband and wife in the flick where Saoirse played Mary Stuart while Jack took the role of Lord Darnley.

The pair are reported to have tied the knot themselves last weekend in a small ceremony with attendees sworn to secrecy, according to the Sunday Independent.

The register of Scottish Civil Marraiges records that Saoirse Una Ronan married Jack Andrew Lowden at the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office.

The couple already share a €2.8m home in Islington in north London and have a puppy named Fran.

Rumours of their engagement flew last July when Jack shared a photo from a group hike which pictured the Irish actress wearing an engagement ring.

The Dunkirk star shared a snap from the top of the Scottish mountain Ben Vrackie with the group’s hands touching the summit point.

In the photo Saoirse’s hand can be seen wearing a diamond engagement ring on her ring finger.

The image caused an influx of well wishes from fans who took the image as confirmation the pair were to be wed.

She was also seen wearing the ring later that year in October.

The pair fuelled the rumours even further when they failed to deny they were set to be married.

The couple have been private about their relationship since they were first rumoured to be dating in 2018 during the filming of Mary Queen of Scots.

Both Saoirse and Jack dodged questions regarding their relationship throughout the press tour.

Despite remaining closed lipped about their love life the pair have since regularly featured together on social media, confirming the romance to the public.

In June, Jack shared a photo with his arms wrapped around the Carlow native while resting his chin on her head at Glanstonbury music festival.

He also shared an image of himself and the actress to celebrate New Year’s Eve in December last year.

‘FORCE OF NATURE’

The newlyweds are both producers in new film The Outrun which is set to hit cinemas in September.

Saoirse herself stars in the film which is set in Scotland.

It follows main character Rona who returns to her home of Scotland’s Orkney Islands in an attempt to heal from her troubled past.

Speaking after the pair co-stared in Mary Queen of Scots Jack described Saoirse as a “force of nature”.

Speaking to iNews, he said: “The woman is a force of nature, on- and off-screen, and utterly fearless and a brilliant leader as well.

“My first love is actors, and when you’re given a Ferrari like her, it’s all about how you make everything good for the Ferrari to show off.

“Don’t make a Ferrari do what a Renault Clio does. It’s a dreadful analogy, but they’re like gold dust, good actors.”
