A year after first teasing a joint project with No I.D., Saba returns with “Back in Office,” his first official collaboration with the legendary Chicago producer.
The team-up arrives alongside a music video directed by Ian Lipton, which you can watch up top. A press release says the drop “paves the way for the release of additional tracks from the private collection of this dynamic duo.”
“Superhero, this my Negro solstice flow, they hear my shit and then adopt it like a foster home/My granny workin’ hard, the main person I call upon/Gold chain hang from my collarbone,” Saba raps on his opening verse.
“Back in Office” arrives over a year after Saba put out his last full-length project, A Few Good Things, in February 2022. A few months later, in an interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, the Windy City rapper revealed No I.D. had sent him “over 120 beats” to work with.
“He was like, ‘You hear that little beat in the background, that’s just number 80 this week, don’t mind me,’” Saba shared. “So when I got up with him, he told me he did 120 in a two-week span. He was like, ‘I got 120, how many of them you want me to send you?’ I was just like, ‘Bro, I’m about to go on tour, send me all 120. I didn’t expect him to actually do it, but he did it.”
Fresh off dropping his first single of 2023, Saba is set to hit the stage at Coachella before performing at New York’s Governors Ball in June.
