On Tuesday, A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of firing a semiautomatic handgun at former friend A$AP Relli during a 2021 altercation, and now his partner, Rihanna, has publicly reacted to the news.
In an Instagram story on Tuesday, she shared a message of profound gratitude.
“The glory belongs to God and God alone!” Rihanna wrote. “Thankful. Humbled by his mercy!”
According to The Associated Press, Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, could have faced up to 24 years in prison if the verdict had gone against him. Last month, the AP reported that he had turned down a plea deal that would have reduced his sentence to six months.
On Jan. 29, Rihanna made her first public appearance in court since Rocky’s trial began.
After the verdict was handed down, the rapper expressed his thanks in a video posted to X, formerly Twitter.
“You got to thank God first,” Rocky said. “I really want to thank the jury for making the right decision. I’m just so thankful. This is crazy right now. This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years, but I’m thankful, nonetheless. I’m thankful and blessed to be here right now, to be a free man.”

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman also responded to the court’s ruling, KTLA reported.
“While today’s verdict is not the outcome we sought, we respect the jury’s decision and the integrity of our justice system,” he stated. He added that his office “remains committed to seeking accountability for those who break the law, no matter their status or influence.”
