This is SOUND ADVICE, a weekly destination for playlists curated by Interview’s friends, enemies and lovers. Over the past few weeks, we’ve gathered playlists from Mel Ottenberg, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and Tinashe. This week’s edition comes from experimental indie duo-slash-Cities Aviv protegé Patch +, consisting of Brooklyn-based Southern darlings Franklin Wallace (aka Beneviolence) and Alexander DeWahl. After a summer of playing everywhere from underground fashion shows to downtown dives, they dropped a breathy A/B single last week, This One’s for You, via D.O.T. audio arts, a teaser for their upcoming EP and follow-up album to White Paper. While the pair warms up to open for POiSON GiRL FRiEND this fall at Sony Hall, they made us a playlist of their fave songs—think Florida rap to No Bra to ambient noise—and told us their music red flags and their extraterrestrial dream venues.
