Netflix Sets Fall Release for Kathryn Bigelow's 'A House of Dynamite'

A House of Dynamite, the next movie from The Hurt Locker Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow, will hit theaters this October and stream on Netflix on Oct. 24.

The movie penned by Noah Oppenheim is billed as follows: “When a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond.”

The movie stars Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabe Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, Jonah Hauer-King, with Greta Lee, and Jason Clarke. Also starring Malachi Beasley, Brian Tee, Brittany O’Grady, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Willa Fitzgerald, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Kyle Allen, and Kaitlyn Dever.

Producers are Greg Shapiro, Bigelow, and Oppenheim. EPs are Brian Bell and Sarah Bremner.

Bigelow’s latest feature was announced at the streamer’s 2024 upfronts last year.

The project marks Bigelow’s first feature since the 2017 thriller Detroit, which was produced and distributed by Annapurna Pictures.

Bigelow’s 2009 movie The Hurt Locker won six Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Original Screenplay by Mark Boal, and Film Editing.

Her 2012 movie, Zero Dark Thirty, about the hunt for Osama bin Laden after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, won Best Sound Editing and grossed $132.8M at the global box office.

Netflix has a big fall shaping up in the awards sector, one of the OTT service’s other titles being Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein starring Jacob Elordi as the monster, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Charles Dance, Ralph Ineson and Oscar Isaac as Dr. Victor Frankenstein.
