Producer Lynette Howell Taylor has been elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the organization’s board of governors. She is a former Oscar nominee for Bradley Cooper’s 2018 A Star Is Born, as well as an Emmy nominee as producer (with Stephanie Allain) of the 92nd Academy Awards broadcast in 2020.
Howell Taylor follows another producer, Janet Yang, into the prestigious position after Yang served three consecutive one-year terms as president.
Also elected to 2025-2026 officer positions today by the board:

- Howard A. Rodman (Writers Branch), Vice President/Secretary (chair, Governance Committee)

Howell Taylor is beginning her first term as president during her second term as a governor representing the Producers Branch. She previously served for three years as vice president and chair of the Awards Committee. Barber and Rodman were re-elected as officers. It will be the first officer stint for Fox, Kilmurry and Phillips.
An Academy member since 2014, Howell Taylor has produced more than 25 films in the past 20 years, including the aforementioned A Star Is Born which received eight Oscar nominations and earned her a Best Picture nomination. Her most recent film credits include the current Prime Video hit The Accountant 2, the sequel to 2016’s The Accountant, as well as the upcoming Paramount release Roofman starring Channing Tatum which will premiere in September at the Toronto Film Festival.
Other producing credits include Captain Fantastic, Big Eyes, The Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine and Half Nelson. Among her many other credits is as executive producer of the 2020 Emmy-winning HBO limited series I Know This Much Is True.
Academy board members may serve up to two three-year terms (consecutive or non-consecutive), followed by a two-year hiatus, after which eligibility renews for up to two additional three-year terms for a lifetime maximum of 12 years. Officers serve one-year terms, with a maximum of four consecutive years in any one office.
