EXCLUSIVE: After turning Disney’s Lilo & Stitch live-action pic into the first billion-dollar hit of 2025, director Dean Fleischer Camp has a new pitch in the market that he hopes sweeps buyers off their feet.
Sources tell Deadline that Camp and the producing team behind his Oscar-nominated animated pic Marcel the Shell With Shoes On have taken an untitled pitch for a supernatural romance to market with buyers already lining up. Camp will write and direct as well as produce alongside Marcel producers Andrew Goldman and Paul Mezey at Present Company as well as Caroline Kaplan.
The live-action pitch follows two star-crossed lovers during the Edwardian Age suddenly torn apart — not by society but by something much stranger. Given Camp’s track record of delivering projects that reach the masses but also get glowing reviews, the package is sure to attract plenty of suitors. Sources say after going out with it last week, the pitch already has multiple offers on the table.
