In 2021, Timothee was announced to be the next Willy Wonka. Besides him, there are some heavy-weight actors in this fantasy musical by Paul King, including Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, and Hugh Grant. The senior actor openly spoke about how much he disliked portraying the character of Oompa Loompa in the movie because of the motion-capture work. In an interview, he jokingly admitted that since he has a lot of mouths to feed, he took up the role for money.
Wonka star Hugh Grant recently made headlines when he channeled his inner Oompa Loompa while presenting an award at the BAFTAs this year. The video went viral on social media. The film was hugely successful at the box office and earned $609 million worldwide. The film is now set to entertain a wider audience with its OTT release.
When & Where is Wonka coming on OTT?
According to Variety, Wonka will exclusively stream on Max starting March 8, 2024. It is one of the leading streaming platforms with millions of subscribers, and it was formerly known as HBO Max. Will there be a Wonka sequel?
In the morning, we reported on a possible Wonka sequel, as Paul King‘s comments indicate positively. He also shared some of the ideas they are pondering by telling ComicBook.com, “If we come up with something that we think can be exciting — certainly Oompa Loompas feel like there can be a plural oompa loompas. Of course, there are some ideas sloshing around, but we don’t have a story yet, so we’ll see what happens.”
