For the last few days, the discussions about the future of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming projects have been in full swing. The Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has caught everyone’s attention. Immediately, reports came out that Henry Cavill was approached for a crucial role in the MCU. The actor, who played Superman in the DC Universe, might soon make his Marvel debut. But what role will he play exactly? Well, the speculations are endless.
A few years ago, when the rumours started, reports stated that Henry Cavill might play Captain Britain. The Argylle actor had himself shown interest in playing the Marvel superhero. However, there was no development on the same. Recently, news started floating that he might play Doctor Doom, aka Victor von Doom, the main villain of the Fantastic Four world. The news made headlines when MCU announced its FF movie cast. Now, another report states that Henry may play a mutant.
Henry Cavill to Play A Mutant in The MCU?
Marvel scooper HolyfieldM5 revealed on his X (formerly Twitter) page that Henry is offered two important X-Men characters – Wolverine and Cyclops. The actor might play either of these once things are finalised. Hugh Jackman also plays Wolverine officially in the MCU movie Deadpool & Wolverine. But if Henry says yes to the clawed superhero, he might be the Logan of another universe.
But the post also mentions that he might also play Cyclops. Also known as Scott Summers, Cyclops is one of the founding members of the X-Men team. He is known for his intelligent and tactical mindset and outstanding leadership qualities. Earlier, actor James Marsden had played the superhero in X-Men movies. The post mentions that The Witcher actor is approached to play one of the leading X-Men characters from these two options.
So far, Kevin Feige and the team have not confirmed anything regarding the same. So, all we can do is wait for them to officially announce whether Henry is indeed a part of the upcoming MCU project. As far as X-Men is concerned, Marvel will drop an animated series, X-Men ’97, on Disney+ on March 20, 2024. It would be interesting to see how the new faces and Feige’s version of the live-action adaptation of these mutants.
