Goose has announced a pair of Hurricane Helene Benefit Concerts. The events are scheduled for October 25 at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C., followed by an October 26 performance at Avondale Brewing Co. in Birmingham, Ala. Due to the destructive hurricane path that devastated the region, the newly announced dates replace the group’s two-night stand at the ExploreAsheville.com Arena.
According to the Connecticut ensemble, proceeds from ticket sales for the concerts above will support Hurricane Helene relief efforts in partnership with Conscious Alliance and localized organizations, Beloved Asheville and Hearts with Hands in their on-the-ground recovery/ clean-up efforts and dedication to helping communities in the hard-hit Western North Carolina area, like Swannanoa, N.C. At the same time that Goose revealed their plan of action, Ben Folds shared his own approach to giving back in the wake of the natural disaster. A North Carolina native, himself, Folds, has announced “From Wilmington, With Love,” a hurricane relief concert on October 29 at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater, hosted by the City of Wilmington, with support from Live Nation, the Wilmington Arts Council, and the North Carolina Music Office. 100% of proceeds will benefit local charities assisting with emergency food, housing, and home repairs via the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, managed by United Way of North Carolina.
“I’m honored to share the stage and stand in unity with other North Carolina music artists to help those whose lives and livelihoods have been tragically lost or forever altered by the horrific events triggered by Hurricane Helene,” Folds offered via an official press release. “Our goal with this benefit concert is to raise awareness and funds to support the massive rebuilding efforts now underway, and that will be ongoing for months and years to come.”
“Here in Coastal North Carolina, we know the power of nature to disrupt lives and endanger communities,” added Bill Saffo, mayor of Wilmington, N.C. “That’s why we feel so deeply for those in the western part of our state whose lives have been upended by Hurricane Helene. We look forward to a beautiful night of music with Ben Folds, but also musicians from Western North Carolina traveling to Wilmington to share their talent and first-hand accounts of the devastation their region is experiencing. Together, we will raise funds to support the massive rebuilding efforts and deliver 100% of the money we raise ‘From Wilmington, With Love.’” Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
