Just a few days after it was reported that Sydney Sweeney had called off her engagement to longtime fiancee Jonathan Davino, the actress was spotted at the wedding of Glen Powell’s sister. Given the evident chemistry that the pair shared in their rom-com Anyone But You and the subsequent press tour, this naturally led to speculation that the pair are now romantically involved.
As fate would have it, Glen Powell appeared on The Today Show this week and was naturally asked about Sydney Sweeney’s appearance at his sister’s wedding by gossiping hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Olivia Munn (a guest co-host).
Powell — whose got three projects set to release this year, the films The Running Man and Huntington, and the Hulu series Chad Powers — predictably played it coy, indicating with a smirk that “timing is everything in this world.”
“Timing is everything in this world, isn’t it? She and Syd are obviously great friends and it was a hell of a wedding. The Powells know how to do it right, so all the people that love her were there,” Powell said on The Today Show
Following the success of Anyone But You — the film made over $220 million at the global box office against just a $25 million budget — there were reports of a sequel being in development. Additionally, Sweeney and Powell both indicated that they wanted to make another project together. Given the rocket ship to the top of Hollywood’s A-list that the pair are both on, we imagine that’s something Hollywood makes happen sooner or later.
It certainly won’t be easy to find time for an Anyone But You sequel in either of their schedules as the pair are both booked and busy, particularly Sweeney, as the 27-year-old has projects such as season three of Euphoria, Eden, Echo Valley, The Housemaid, a Christy Martin biopic, Scandlous!, Gundam, I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, and Barbarella either set to release or begin production in the coming months and years.
