Fresh off the success of her song “Dance the Night” on the Barbie soundtrack, pop star Dua Lipa took to Instagram to remind fans that while she may be a Barbie, she’s got Kenergy, too.
In just the latest of her oceanfront snaps, Lipa captioned the series of photos saying “All I do is beach,” which is, of course, a reference to something that Ryan Gosling’s Ken says in the film, which crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office over the weekend.
As a result of the film’s billion-plus dollars at the global box office, Barbie is now the highest-grossing film to be made by a female director.
In addition to Lipa — who briefly appears in the film as Mermaid Barbie — Barbie also stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles of Barbie and Ken, respectively.
Additional cast members include Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Emma Mackey, Kingley Ben-Air, Dua Lipa, Rhea Perlman, John Cena, Michael Cera, Helen Mirren, and more.
Barbie isn’t the only movie role that Lipa has booked, as she’s also got a part in the AppleTV+ film Argylle, which is set to release next year.
Directed by Kingsman filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, Argylle — which AppleTV is hoping spawns a franchise — will also star Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Rob Delaney, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Samuel L. Jackson, and more.
Lipa is also hard at work on her next studio album, which is set to be the 27-year-old Brit’s first album since 2020’s massively successful Future Nostalgia. Future Nostalgia took home the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and turned Lipa into an internationally recognized pop star thanks to songs such as “Don’t Start Now” and “Levitating”.
