Dune: Part Two is one of the biggest releases of this year. The good thing is fans of the franchise won’t have to wait longer to watch the movie in theatres. We are just a few days away from the release. The Denis Villeneuve directorial is a sequel to the 2012 film, based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name. The lead cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.
What made the 2021 Dune such a spectacular movie is its storytelling, visuals, performances, direction, cinematography and music. The movie excelled in every department, but the music stayed with the audience. Hans Zimmer composed the music for the film, which struck a chord with everyone who watched the movie. Zimmer even won accolades for his incredible work.
However, did you know that when Denis Villeneuve had decided to make the Dune movie and returned from the filming, Hans reacted strangely? The music composer is a big fan of the franchise and really wanted Denis to not f*ck it up. In this interesting Dune trivia, we will tell you what exactly happened.
Almost three years ago, on the Song Exploder podcast, Hans Zimmer revealed what he had said to Denis before and after the film’s shooting. The Lion King music composer said, “This is an enormously ambitious project, making this movie, and sort of a childhood dream. So the last thing I said to Denis before he went off to shoot the movie, I just looked at him sort of sternly, and I said, ‘Denis, just one thing: Don’t f*ck it up.’ But then he came back, and it was the same thing. Now, the responsibility had shifted onto my shoulders.”
After Denis finished filming, Hans Zimmer composed the music for Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya starrer. He spent a week in Utah’s desert to think of the perfect score for the 2021 film. Hans won the Academy Award, and BAFTA Award Critics Choice Movie Awards, among others, for his remarkable original score for the first film. Hans and Denis have collaborated again for Dune 2.
Meanwhile, Dune: Part 2 also stars Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken and Léa Seydoux. Anya-Taylor Joy reportedly has a secret role in the sequel. The film is slated to release in theatres on March 1, 2024.
