Courtney Marie Andrews Shares "These Are the Good Old Days"

Courtney Marie Andrews returns today with the new single “These Are the Good Old Days,” the latest single off her upcoming album Loose Future. It arrives with an accompanying music video, as well as newly-added tour dates in the UK and EU through 2023.

Andrews said she wanted to release a “feel-good song,” and “These Are the Good Old Days” is just what the doctor ordered. Backed by a simple instrumental arrangement, the song is a placid ode to living in the moment, and a gentle reminder that dwelling on the past or catastrophizing the future are rarely beneficial: “People like me think feelings are facts/ Falling in love gives us a heart attack/ One foot in the future, one in the past/ Wanna know for sure if it’s gonna last,” Andrews sings.

“‘These are the good old days’ is a saying my uncle always says to try and remind us of the beauty of the now,” Andrews explains in a press release. “I tend to always live in a constant state of hindsight being 20/20, and I wanted to write this as a sort of mantra to honor my family’s sentiment. I also genuinely wanted to write a feel-good song after such a dark few years. Even in the saddest of times, there are little moments you’ll always look back on with a fondness that don’t seem so sad after all — they seem perfectly placed.”

The music video for “These Are the Good Old Days” centers on Andrews dancing in an assortment of drab, empty rooms that look like they’re from an outdated office building. Decked out in bold duds and makeup, however, Andrews seems to resemble the moments of happiness that can be found just about anywhere.

Andrews’ tour begins in Leeds on October 7th, and comes to the US in November. Then, she’ll start back up again in March to complete the final UK and EU legs of the run; get your tickets over at Ticketmaster. Loose Future is the follow-up to Andrews’ Grammy-nominated 2020 album, Old Flowers, and arrives October 7th via Fat Possum. Pre-orders are ongoing. She also recently chatted with Consequence about the origins behind the album’s title track.
