An influencer in Russia has fractured her spine after attempting the viral “stiletto challenge” inspired by Nicki Minaj’s iconic pose in the High School music video.
Mariana Barutkina, a mommy blogger from Yekaterinburg, tried to recreate Minaj’s crouching stiletto pose just eight weeks after giving birth and wound up in the hospital after falling off a kitchen countertop.
Footage of the incident shows Barutkina balancing on a saucepan and a canister of baby formula stacked atop a kitchen counter before losing balance and tumbling backward onto the floor. The video has since gone viral across social media.
Influencer breaks spine attempting ‘stiletto challenge’
According to The Sun, the fall resulted in a compression flexion fracture to her spine.
“I decided to start a blog, my first content shoot — and here I am leaving the doctor’s,” she wrote on Instagram. “Irony? Karma? Or just life, which always tests our strength at the most unexpected moment.”
Barutkina later joked about the unexpected attention the incident received: “Because of one video, which was unsuccessfully filmed, I woke up a popular person. More than 50 people sent me my reel from different publications today.”
Despite the brutal fall, she reassured followers that both she and her newborn baby are okay.
Given her newfound popularity, this fall and her recovery may end up being the best thing to ever happen to the blogger if she manages to capitalize on it like prior viral sensations such as the Hawk Tuah girl and the ‘Not Real’ plane woman.
