Your Insta feed is created by the app after taking into account a number of different factors.

Although it is usually recent pictures, videos and reels that appear first – older uploads sometimes recirculate.

A statement on the Instagram help centre read: “At times, you might see a post from a few days ago in your feed.

“This is to make sure that you don’t miss a post from someone you follow or a suggested post.”

Instagram determines what you see on your feed through a number of factors.

They include your activity on the app, such as the posts you like, share, save and comment on.

It is also taken into consideration how many likes and attention a post garners.

The app will consider users interaction with other accounts and show more posts from those who you are most active with.

Meanwhile, Threads – the new Instagram messaging platform – also comes into play.

You can also add up to 50 accounts to a favourites list, which will boost their posts to the top of your feed.

To do this, tap on the three dots above a post on your feed and press Add to favourites.

These accounts will not be alerted that you have added them to your favourites.

This comes as Instagram reportedly shared secret tips with influencers on how often they should post for maximum likes.

The social media platform apparently also revealed what types of posts can increase followers and engagement.

Plus, six ways to boost your following on the app have been shared.

And, four hidden Instagram features you probably didn’t know about from hiding your own posts to muting followers.
