The forthcoming book paints a picture of Shapiro’s effervescent life experiences in the music industry. From operating Tribecca’s legendary Wetlands club to reopening the fabled Capitol Theatre and later multiple Brooklyn Bowl venues, Shapiro, has ultimately earned his title as “the most notable independent concert promoter since Bill Graham,” as stated in the press release and echoed in Variety. The Music Never Stops digs into these experiences through the lens of Shapiro’s 50 most iconic shows.
The Music Never Stops allows readers to discover stories behind working with the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and the late Leonard Cohen. As well as countless other musical acts like U2, The Roots and more. Shapiro’s book also offers never-before-seen backstage anecdotes and photographers from his experiences.
Ultimately, The Music Never Stops gives readers a guide to the ins-and-outs of the music industry. By breaking down events and explaining how something goes from concept to concert Shapiro presents tips for making a career in music without ever needing picking up an instrument.
The Music Never Stops will also touch on Shapiro’s time producing the acclaimed music documentary, U2 3D, promoting the Grateful Dead’s 50th anniversary “Fare Thee Well” tour and more. Collaborators and constituents shared their thoughts on the book, including Trey Anastasio, who offered: “Pete is the rarest of personalities in the music industry. He explodes into the room, swinging for the fences, full of unbridled enthusiasm, and joy, with huge energy and huge ideas. For Pete, the dream is alive.” Anastasio concluded, “The power of live music–and I love him for that.”
Phil Lesh stated, “Peter thinks like a musician. He understands the spirit of the music I’m trying to make because he wants to create situations for that music that enhance the experience on many levels.”
