Tyler Childers has announced a new album, Snipe Hunter, out July 25th. He’s also revealed the new song “Nose on the Grindstone.”
Snipe Hunter serves as Childers’ eighth studio album and was produced by Rick Rubin with additional production from Childers and Sylvan Esso’s Nick Sanborn. It follows 2023’s Rustin’ in the Rain., which further cemented Childers as one of the most dominant figures in alt-country. Pre-orders for Snipe Hunter are ongoing.

“Nose on the Grindstone” is Childers’ first offering from Snipe Hunter, and it’s already a fan-favorite; Childers has been playing the song on the road since 2017, and now, it’s finally being released as a single. With just Childers, his guitar, and touch of organ, “Nose on the Grindstone” is personal for the Kentucky songwriter, who reflects on crucial advice that his father gave him when he was young: “Keep your nose on the grindstone and outta the pills.” Stream the song below.

Childers will be supporting Snipe Hunter with a large slate of US tour dates taking place this summer and fall; he wrapped the tour’s first leg this week, which ended with a headlining performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. His tour resumes with an appearance at Redmond, Oregon’s Fairwell Festival on July 18th, followed by Under the Big Sky in Montana on July 20th. After another pair of July shows, Childers will head back on the road in September for shows in Charlottesville, New York City, Cincinnati, Nashville, and many more.
