The Only Way Is Essex star Ferne McCann is working up a sweat in the south of France with an especially intense workout. McCann, 33, shared a video of herself wearing black swimwear, sparring with a coach outside on the deck. “Kicking away the French wine & baguettes 🍷🥖🇫🇷🤣… Because what else would you do in the South of France 🤣😍🥊🦵🏼absolutely loved trying Muay Thai for the first time with @rivierafightingconcept,” she captioned the post. Here’s what McCann’s health and wellness regimen looks like when she’s not on vacation.
McCann says working out is not just good for her body but for her mind too. “If I’m feeling stressed, overwhelmed or anxious, a workout, even a small one, just makes my body feel great,” she told Health & Wellbeing. “This last year, I’ve really got into my yoga and meditation, which of course is so beneficial mentally and makes my body feel incredible too. I used to think I needed to have a big workout, but now, I just need a spare 15 minutes to make me feel great and energized.”
McCann relies on her village to help with parenting. “Life is busy but our house is the hub of activity, it is a very busy household and we have a team around us which helps no end,” she told Absolutely Mama UK. “Momma Gill is a total lifesaver and is often on hand when we need her. Work is about being as productive as possible while the baby naps and Sunday is at school, to-do lists have become my best friend and I am just trying my best to be a little more organized and less procrastinating!”
McCann starts her day with fresh juice and enjoys protein for her meals. “I have a juice every morning,” she told Health & Wellbeing. “My favorite is apple, lemon juice, black pepper, fresh chili and turmeric at the moment, which gets my immune system going and makes my skin look bright. For lunch, I always try to eat a light meal, so it will be a salad. When it comes to dinner, I’m much more experimental and also try to encourage Sunday to eat different food types. I absolutely love my steamed fish and vegetables, with a big spoonful of pesto to enhance the flavor, and that gives me loads of fuel to workout.”
McCann is grateful for the support she gets from the public when it comes to being a mom. “I will often get people asking after them in my DM’s if one of them has been unwell or there is a milestone moment and that is so nice,” she told Absolutely Mama UK. “I also like to embrace the mum community online as they give really good advice and tips. I have a mental health toolkit and practice things like breath work, meditation, journaling. These help to keep my mental health in check.”
McCann enjoys taking time for herself and just relaxing. “I’m big into my self-care! I absolutely love doing a little skincare treatment, meditating, having a long bath, that sort of thing,” she told Health & Wellbeing. “I also love just sitting down with a good Netflix series. I think it’s so important to have balance and to treat yourself where necessary. We’re all so overworked at times, and in this strange world we live in at the moment, it’s those little treats that get you through some of the more difficult days!”
