THE Spring season is upon, which means it’s time to get the house cleaned up and for the coming months.
And that includes everything from your bedrooms, to the kitchens and even your appliances like your tumble dryer too.
Making sure your tumble dryer is clean is super important, as it will help to get your clothes dried quicker as well as save on your energy bills.
Having a clogged filter means your machine will use more energy to dry your clothes, as well as making your clothes smell.
By ensuring that this is clean, it will help to prevent odours and keeps your appliance working to the best of its abilities.
And even the cleanest of people have to do it, including cleaning professional Sophie Hinchliffe, also known as Mrs Hinch.
She recently shared a simple five-step guide to an effective tumble-dry clean with her Samsung dryer.
Sophie, 34, who currently has over 4.8 million followers on Instagram, took to her social media page to show how she gets her tumble dryer clean.
She first started off by emptying the drawer and emptying it into the sink.
Sophie then went onto clean the filter, but before doing so she put kitchen foil in the sink so that the lint doesn’t clog your plug hole.
Mrs Hinch then dusts down the outside of her tumble dryer, as well as keeping the lint for starting log fires at home.
Before the filter goes back in, use a duster to remove any additional lint from inside the machine.
Next, clean the heat exchange – pull it out and if you have a Samsung machine, you get a little brush to get all the dust out, so no washing is required.
Finally, spray a cloth and wipe the drum to finish.
Sophie has recently had a new laundry range at Home Bargains, and cleaning fans can’t get enough.
The laundry detergent or washing pods, come in Orange Blossom and Coastal Cypress – and start from £2.99.
The products are called Vacay Vibes products – Bold Pods, Lenor Scent Boosters, Lenor Outdoorable and Bold Gel.
Sophie claims that the Bold Pods, which are £12.99 for a large bag, “come with a unique three-chamber design that features a brilliant cleaning detergent with built-in fabric softener – for cleaner, fresher and softer feeling clothes.”

TIPS FOR TIDYING A CLUTTERED MIND
Decluttering expert Carolyn Creel gives her top tips to help get your mind ready for Spring
- Daily Gratitude / Intention setting: “Each day I take time out to write down all the things I am grateful for, and my intention or goals that day or week. I write things over and over again, highlighting, circling and starring that which was most important to me.
- Crystals in my bra, under my pillow: “I’m not kidding, I regularly pick out crystals each day and either put them in my bra or wear jewellery of some kind. Currently, I carry Tigers Eye and Labradorite. When I am really stuck I use my pendulum to help with yes / no answers.
- Tune into your inner medium: “Often there is so much theatre around working with our intuition or spirit. One simple way to get clarity or declutter your mind is to pick up any book, flick until it stops and then read the first line. Often that line could be the message you need for that day.”
- Cloud Gaze: “One fun thing I love to do to declutter my mind is to cloud gaze. I love watching the shapes appear in the sky and being able to predict where they are going next. Such a beautiful and joyous way to take time out with family or on your own.“
- Fall in love with the mundane: “Zone out whilst you clean. When I am stressed or needing time out, I clean or wash the dishes until I have expended the energy or reached the solution I need. It’s the old idea of ‘Carry water, Chop wood’ – immerse yourself in something else to gain clarity.”
- Create a ‘Let it go’ jar: “To keep a tidy decluttered mind, write down anything that’s bothering you on a post-it note. This includes negative thoughts. Feelings. Anything you are holding your tongue about. Then once you have filled the jar. let it go. Burn it in the light of the moon – or when you feel like it. Just let it go.”
- Make a list of things you need to do but keep putting off/ignoring: “Commit to clearing the list within a week.”
- Take a shower or an Epsom salts bath: “Imagine all the negative energy and worries running down the drain.”
- Take an ‘energy shower’: “Go outside, and brush your hands over your body from top to toe. Imagine all the heavy energy and cluttered thoughts leaving your energy field. Shake your hands and wiggle your toes, and push away the energy you no longer need, making space for light and bright energy and thoughts.”
The decision made her handsomely rich, with her now raking in an average of £77,000-a-week thanks to fans buying her products, books and endorsements.
The influencer created her Instagram account, @mrshinchhome, in March 2018 and accumulated a whopping two million followers within one year.
She has a huge fan base, who are also known as #HinchArmy, and they often take to social media sharing cleaning tips, after getting inspired by Mrs Hinch.
