Nicki Minaj is the latest artist to stop for a chat with 12-year-old Brooklyn reporter Jazzy’s World TV.
Right off the bat, interviewer Jazlyn quizzed the “Super Freaky Girl” on what advice she’d give to any young person looking to emulate her level of success.
“I think that you have to have faith in God, and I think that you have to be consistent,” Nicki answered. “You have to work very hard, you can’t expect anyone to give you anything, you cannot expect to be treated differently. You gotta work so, so, so hard…and what you’re doing really has to be your passion, not something that you woke up and someone told you to [do].”
Elsewhere in the chat, Jazlyn asked Nicki about her West Indian roots and how she shows it off in her music. “It make me have a love for all kinds of music,” Minaj, 39, explained. “And also it makes me, I think, be more spicy. I’m an island girl.”
The young journalist also asked about the rapper’s time at NYC’s renowned LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (below) and revealed she wants to attend when she graduates middle school. Nicki concluded the brief interview by offering a word of personal encouragement for her fellow New Yorker.
Jazlyn has been speaking with some of the most successful acts in hip-hop and beyond for the past few years. Among her most notable interviews is her chat with Jay-Z, who shared his advice on how to become successful as well. Other recent conversations include Spider-Man star Tom Holland, the Wu-Tang Clan’s Method Man, and Kendrick Lamar.
