A MOTORS expert has revealed that a car’s boot has three hidden features that could help save your life as well as money.
The TikTok star known as ‘Chequanxiaoqiao’ went to her social media page to show her 938,000 followers what they needed to know.
She began by saying: “There are three hidden functions in a car trunk. Some can save money and some can save lives.”
The first most people didn’t know about was how to open the boot if it won’t open fully using the key fob.
She said: “If you want to put something in the trunk, you have to lift it up with your hands which is very troublesome.”
But she said there was a way to make the lid pop up on its own.
If you pull back the lining panel on the side of the boot that will reveal a spring inside and there are three small holes next to the spring.
The influencer said that when the car leaves the factory, the spring is set to the first hole.
But if you adjust it to the middle hole this should now work.
And opening the boot again, the lid raised up fully all on its own.
Next, she showed a way to get out if you were stuck in your car.
The expert advised not to panic but put the back seats down first.
Then climb into the trunk.
Once inside, look for a “plastic cover on the trunk lid” and then press lightly.
She said: “Then you can open the trunk for an emergency escape.”
The last nifty hack was about what to do if there is a large gap between the boot lid and the car’s bodywork.
To fix this, simply open the boot lid and look for a black rubber “gloop” on the back of the boot lid.
If you turn it clockwise it increases the gap while anticlockwise reduces it.
