In an interview with Women Health AU, Mel was asked about her wellness routine, and what advice she would give to others. She answered that having love for yourself is the first step. “Well it really comes down to loving and respecting yourself. Once you get yourself there mentally, it’s easy to respect your body through healthy eating and exercise.“
Mel has a busy schedule, which means that she doesn’t always have time to do intense workouts. However, she tells Women Health that she likes to do quick workouts, specifically for her core. “You can really give your core a good workout in as little as 15 minutes. I’ll just get down and work the abs really hard with a mix of sit-ups, planks and some exercises with the medicine ball.”
Mel also tells Women Health that she likes to wake up early, as she gets more done each day. She says that she likes to do a workout at this time. “I’ve learnt to embrace early mornings. Once you get over getting up in the dark, you realise it’s a beautiful time when the kids are still in bed! I’ll smash out a workout before 7am and will then get on to my mum duties for the day.”
Mel tells Women Health that she likes to change up her workouts. She says that this helps her stay motivated and interested in working out. “I stay motivated by keeping my workouts interesting. If you hate what you’re doing, you’re never going to feel motivated so do what works for you and keep switching it up so it never gets boring. Just know seeing results takes time and it’s all about maintaining your workout routine whatever it is.”
Mel broke down her daily diet and favorite healthy foods to Body & Soul. She says that she likes to snack on healthy options each day. “I snack on a mix of Brazil nuts, almonds and fruit throughout the day and try to keep my chocolate intake to two squares after dinner every other day,” she said. “I’m always carrying around fruit and nuts! If I’m really organised I’ll slice up some veggies and make up a tahini dip to take with me, too.”
