When it comes to grown-up Bobby Hill’s appearance in King of the Hill’s upcoming revival, a few fans have found themselves paraphrasing Hank Hill’s famous line: “That young adult ain’t right.”
Hulu’s overlords offered fans another glimpse at the animated series’ new season with a Father’s Day-themed teaser trailer on Sunday, highlighting some of Hank’s best “fatherly advice” from Season 14. Proving that even after several years off the air, the former propane salesman is still king of his grill and in perpetual pursuit of improvement (“I’m gonna give you a four, that way it gives you something to work towards,” he said after stiffing a rideshare driver of a five-star rating), one seemingly minor detail managed to upstage Hank’s sensibilities: Whether Bobby is actually that gottdang tall.

Set roughly eight years after the Season 13 finale, one Redditor was apparently shocked at the sight of a now 21-year-old Bobby standing nearly eye-to-eye with his 6-foot-2 father, heading to the King of the Hill subreddit to speculate whether the Tom Landry middle schooler-turned German sushi chef should be standing as tall as his father and grandfather before him (before Cotton Hill’s shin incident, that is).
“Can’t get over how tall Bobby is now,” the Redditor captioned a screengrab from the teaser depicting Hank, Bobby and Peggy Hill sitting around the dinner table. While it’s unclear whether they were trolling or legitimately taken aback by Bobby — and Peggy, for that matter — appearing taller than Hank in this seemingly perspective-warped frame, several other fans begged to differ.
“I think it’s just depth of field,” responded one user, speculating that “Bobby is around 5’11.””
“Did you think he’d be the same height as when he was 12?” joked a second.
Garnering a whole lot of snark, the post quickly went viral, sparking several follow-ups poking fun at the discourse surrounding Bobby’s height.
“OH MY GOD I SIMPLY CANNOT BELIEVE HOW TALL BOBBY HAS BECOME AND CLEARLY IS IN THE TRAILER. PERSPECTIVE? HUH? I’VE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. BOBBY HILL IS 10 FOOT GODDAMN EIGHT, BOBBVIOUSLY!!!!!!” joked another Redditor as others edited images of a giant Bobby towering over the Earth and serving as a massive Godzilla-like creature breathing neon-blue fire over (presumably) a fictionalized version of Arlen.
Hey, a King of the Hill crossover would still be better than 1998’s Godzilla.
