KELLY Clarkson’s weight loss is just the start of a healthy new chapter that has nothing to do with her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, The U.S. Sun has been told.
Many fans believe the country superstar and talk show host, 41, was motivated to lose an astonishing 40 pounds to show her one-time husband, 47, what he’s been missing.
But a source with close ties to Kelly’s talk show has come forward to set the record straight.
The insider outlined how Kelly is combining smart eating choices and regular exercise in her new adopted home of New York City to stay healthy and focused throughout 2024 and beyond.
“Kelly has lost about 40 pounds in the last six months and it’s gotten her fans excited about it but it’s not quite as big a deal for Kelly herself or the team on the show because Kelly is constantly updating her look, her workouts and her diet,” The U.S. Sun’s source revealed.
Asked what Kelly’s colleagues think of her weight loss, the source said, “Internally it didn’t play like a massive transformation the way it has for her fans and people observing from the sidelines.

“I think Kelly would be personally offended if her recent weight loss was linked to her being single again.
“That’s not where Kelly is coming from at all. She’s constantly evolving, and she’s always been that way.”
One-time American Idol winner Kelly, who has been hosting hit talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show for almost five years, married Brandon in 2013.
She filed for divorce from the son of her former manager Narvel Blackstock and stepson of country music legend Reba McEntire in 2020, citing irreconcilable differences.
It was announced that the divorce had been finalized in March 2022.
The mom-of-three showcased her stunning new physique at the 2024 Grammys last weekend, accompanied by her mini-me son, Remington, 7, on the red carpet.
Last month, Kelly revealed on her show that a driving force for her change of lifestyle was that doctors had told her that she was pre-diabetic.
“I was told I was pre-diabetic. That was literally what happened. I wasn’t shocked. I was a tiny bit overweight, so I wasn’t shocked,” Kelly said.
“But they were like, ‘You’re pre-diabetic. You’re right on the borderline.’”
In a recent interview with People, she also shared how living in New York has played a big part in her new lifestyle reboot.
“Walking in the city is quite the workout,” the Grammy award-winner said.
“And I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”
Elaborating on her diet, she revealed, “I eat a healthy mix.
“I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn’t.
“And 90% of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway.
“I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat — sorry, vegetarians in the world.”
The source added that Kelly’s big priority moving forward – besides staying healthy – is to keep up the success of her talk show, which is winning big ratings after launching in September 2019.
‘UNHAPPY IN LA’
“Kelly’s stated focus for the next year or two is just the TV show, since she’s finished her latest album cycle last year and also once again stepped back from working on The Voice on the side,” the insider said.
“The goal with the show is to further cement its status as the Oprah or Ellen of Kelly’s generation.
“Kelly has been pushing Universal on the idea of changing the name of the show from The Kelly Clarkson Show to simply Kelly as a sort of nod to those older shows.”
Kelly moved to New York from Los Angeles last year, where she previously filmed her show and owned a home in the San Fernando Valley.
She divided her time between California and Montana, where she still owns a sprawling ranch.
“I was very unhappy in LA and had been for several years. I needed a fresh start,” she told People.
The Since U Been Gone singer added, “We told NBC, ‘I’m not trying to sound ungrateful, I just can’t stay here anymore for my mental health; for me and my kids.’
“They weren’t doing well. For the past few years, I’d just been showing up and smiling and doing what I’m supposed to do, but you can only compartmentalize so long until you break.”
“The move to New York was meant to spruce up the show and give it a boost of energy and it also allowed Kelly to refine the crew of the show and drop people who weren’t pulling their weight,” the insider explained.
“It wasn’t a budget decision and the show has become infamous for putting every penny in the budget up on the screen.
“Kelly has spoken out about how she wants to make it a better and more welcoming workplace and in New York, she has a lot more control over that than she did filming at Universal in LA.
“She’s much more of a boss and a leader than she was even two or three years ago.”
