A WOMAN has been hailed for her “genius” trick to get extra hand luggage on a flight for just £1.55.
Travel influencer @msgarnagain shared her tip via a video posted to her TikTok channel.
“Do not pay extra baggage fees, here’s an airport secret they don’t want you to know”, she said.
The travel guru revealed demonstrated her hack whilst visiting a busy UK airport.
She said that she had decided to catch a “super cheap flight” that only came with a personal item luggage allowance.
Many budget airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air only allow include one small, under the seat bag in the price of their tickets, and charge customers extra if they want more luggage.
For example, Ryanair charges customers up to £38 each way if they want to bring an extra piece of hand luggage onto their flight.
As she made her way through duty free, the TikToker admitted that she had brought more luggage with her than the amount she had paid for.
She headed over to a stand of water bottles, and picked up the cheapest one that she could find, which was priced at £1.45.
Then, she strolled over to the till and also picked up a 10p carrier bag, so that her purchase came to £1.55.
The content creator then filled the bag right to the top, with all of the extra items that she had brought with her.
She then headed to her gate, and boarded her Ryanair flight without any problems.
“And yes this hack is legal”, she said, showing viewers a sign which said that Ryanair customers are entitled to bring one personal item and one duty free carrier bag onto the flight for free.
“And there you have it, this is how you get extra luggage on low cost airlines”.
This hack only works for hand luggage, as all checked luggage is weighed and placed in the hold before you get to duty free.
The travel vlogger’s hack has likely left many impressed, as it has racked up over a million views on the video sharing platform.
