Decker has a busy work schedule and three kids, so you’d think she wouldn’t have a lot of time to workout. Well, you’d be both wrong and right. Decker tells OK! Magazine that keeping up with her kids is her main way of staying active. “I’m kind of lucky because I’m running after three kids all the time. I get my source of cardio even if I don’t have time to go work out! You’re lifting them all the time. Your arms get super muscular from just lifting 30 pound kids all the time!”
Decker tells E! News that she tries to eat healthy, but she doesn’t completely deprive herself. She says that this approach actually helps her continue to eat healthy. “It’s really easy and you don’t have to give up everything that you love. That’s the important part. If you starve yourself, you’re just going to go crazy.”
Decker is one of many people who use the popular South Beach Diet as a way to eat healthy. “It’s tough, but I think the great thing about South Beach [Diet] is that I have the food at my home and I keep the snacks with me,” she told E! News. “But the great thing is even if you don’t have South Beach physically in your hands, you can still do South Beach.”
When it comes to losing weight, Decker says that she likes to set goals for herself to accomplish. She says that it helps her stay motivated, and reminds her how much further she has to go. “I do like to set goals, I think it’s a good idea to set them, so you can make those goals,” Decker told Us Weekly.
Another way Decker stays motivated to stay in shape is by taking before and after photos of herself. She told Us Weekly, “I would take pictures every couple of months and compare them to the last and how much weight I lost. It would just inspire me and make me feel so good. Like, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting there, and all this hard work that I did of working out and trying to eat healthy, it’s paying off!'”
It can be difficult to get young kids to eat healthy, but Decker has a trick. She tells HollywoodLife that she takes her kids grocery shopping with her, and this encourages them to eat healthy. “I get my kids involved when cooking healthy foods to help give them a more well-rounded diet,” she admitted. “I let them pick out colorful fruits, vegetables and other healthy snack options at the grocery store, so they feel involved and more inclined to eat the foods they are picking out.
