Yanyah Milutinovic is a bodybuilder, fitness expert, and influencer. She has her own fitness plan, and shares a lot of her tips and tricks on Instagram. Milutinovic recently shared a video on Instagram of herself running. She captioned it, “When you’re a 190lbs bodybuilder, 38 year old mother of two and they say you can’t run or be agile. 💅🏼People love putting labels on me on social media – ‘clinically obese’ and unhealthy due to my BMI, but also saying bodybuilders can’t run and be agile. Another thing I’ve heard often is the ‘wait until’ narrative – ‘wait until you’re a mom,’ ‘wait until you’re older’ – as if these milestones define our capabilities.”
As you can see from her Instagram post, Milutinovic likes to run to stay in shape. Valley Oaks reports that running is a great way to reduce stress. “After going for a run, your body experiences a drop in the stress hormone cortisol. This reduction diminishes feelings of stress, allowing you to go about the rest of your day with less tension and anxiety. In addition to mitigating stress, running also invokes feelings of calmness. Following a run, your body releases chemicals called endocannabinoids. These chemicals flow through your bloodstream and into your brain, relaxing your mind and body.”
Milutinovic likes to lift weights to stay in shape. She talked about the benefits of doing so in her Instagram post’s caption. “The reality is that lifting weights doesn’t hinder agility; it actually enhances functional strength, and being a mother is not an EXCUSE but a REASON to prioritize your health and fitness.” She also shared this video on Instagram of herself doing a lot of strength training workouts.
In her Instagram post, Milutinovic talked about the labels that society has put on her, and how she uses it as motivation. “Rather than finding it frustrating, I see it as an opportunity to challenge stereotypes and educate others. The limiting mindset based on preconceived notions pushed onto me by others is more interesting than anything else. I find the idea of categorizing individuals based on size, age or activity narrow-minded.. and ultimately mentally weak.”
Milutinovic isn’t concerned with her weight. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Just like age does not dictate your worth, the numbers on a scale does not define you.
The scale is a liar, and it can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure hard work, commitment, beauty, talent, purpose, life force, strength, or love. We are all complex and dynamic beings, filled with depth and nuances that cannot be quantified by a simple number 🤍”
Milutinovic makes sure to work her upper body. She shared her favorite exercises in this Instagram post. In it, Milutinovic is seen doing shoulder presses, lateral pulldowns, and curls. She captioned the post, “I kept this reel in my drafts for over a week, as I wanted to do a voice over on it. But with my busy schedule, and being a mom who rarely finds the quiet time to record voice overs I am dropping this video just like this 😅This is my weekly upper body workout, where I combine chest, back and shoulders. I am pushing and pulling relatively light weight focusing more on maintaining than building at this point.”
