The mum shared how she went from scraping by on Universal Credit to raking in some serious cash just a year later

A SAVVY mum has shared how she went from getting £300 on Universal Credit to raking in a whopping £2.5k a month.

Just a year ago, mum Daisy Richmond found herself scraping by on benefits – but now life looks a little different for her, thanks to an easy side hustle.

Taking to TikTok, the money-smart parent, from the UK, revealed that back in 2023 she was on Universal Credit, getting £300 a month, the majority of which went on £200 rent.

This, she bravely opened up in a video talking about her financial struggles, left Daisy with ”£100 for food shopping and anything else” for the full month.

However, fast-forward to January, 2024, and the mum has raked in almost £2.5k in just one month – and now Daisy’s explained how she was able to find herself here.

According to the parent, mum to adorable tot Alfie, she now focuses on posting videos on social media – and the hard effort has certainly paid off, as Daisy’s page boasts close to a whopping 75k followers.

The stunner revealed that she first started uploading clips on the popular platform in 2021 – however, at the time, it was nothing too serious.

”But I didn’t start properly doing it until 2022.

”In 2022, I was posting every single day, I was working with brands here and there – but I would say my growth was pretty stagnant,” Daisy shared the journey in a more recent clip.

”I didn’t know anything about the app, I was just posting for fun, which I think is the best way to get started.”

She went on: ”I think if you go in with the mindset of ‘I really, really want to make money’ and you have, say, 1,000 followers, you’re starting off on the wrong foot.”

Daisy, who claimed that she had ”never intended” to make this her ”job” or rake in, then realised there were possibilities for this to become something bigger – and this is when she began to take it more seriously.

However, the past summer saw the mum ”hit a very, very slow slump within social media”, with her TikTok not ”growing at all’.

”My views were very, very low, and that was massive learning curve for me.”

Instead of trying out different content, Daisy stuck to sharing videos on topics she knew always perform well, such as ”dishing out dinners with me” – and this is one of the key tips she advised others to remember.

Although it’s not always realistic, the rising social media star, who also likes to vlog, will do her best to post such content on a daily basis whenever possible.

When it comes to creating videos, Daisy revealed that she makes then one-minute long – and this is where she makes money from TikTok’s Beta Fund.

This programme, the platform revealed, is perfect for those sharing ”high-quality, longer TikTok videos” and wanting to monetise their content.

Beta Fund, which Daisy described as a ”hit and miss”, gives her ”a good few hundred pounds” every month.

Another reason she managed to make some serious money in December is because one of her shorter videos went viral – and she found herself with an extra £1k in the bank account.

Sharing her tips and tricks, the cash-savvy mum added she also makes money via TikTok shop, as well as brand deals.

”That is the mindset you have to have – you have to absolutely love it, you have to have a passion for it and you have to 100% into it even if you’re not getting anything back.”

However, as tempting as it may sound, Daisy also noted that not every month is ”like this”.

”I am so, so lucky.”
