Eugenio Derbez has always been known as a devoted and generous father, constantly looking for ways to collaborate with his children on their projects. Family unity has always been a priority for him. However, his sons, Vadhir and José Eduardo Derbez, recently made the surprising decision to embark on a new venture—completely independent of their famous father. While caught off guard, Eugenio has shown his support, even though he has some reservations.
Their new show, ‘Par de Ideotas’, is set to premiere on ViX on March 7. In the series, Vadhir and José Eduardo will attempt to start a business from scratch in just a few days—without their father’s help.
“You probably know us because of our super-famous dad,” they joke in the show’s trailer. “And honestly, we’re sick of that. We want to make it on our own,” adds José Eduardo, with his signature humor.

Although they’re determined to do things their way, the Derbez brothers will have some help along the way, including advice from their mothers, Victoria Ruffo and Silvana Prince. While they insist on being fully independent, they won’t completely shut out guidance from their dad. The show will also feature several celebrity guests who will join in on the fun.
Vadhir’s decision to drop the Derbez last name
A few months ago, Vadhir opened up about his choice to use only his first name in his career. “I feel like my name is unique enough that it stands on its own—kind of like Shakira. ‘Vadhir’ works just fine by itself,” he told El Heraldo de México.
