When it comes to taking care of her skin, Dua believes that “Less is more,” she explained to Elle in a September 2022 interview. “Especially when I was on tour, dancing every night with makeup on, and then having breakouts. I was trying everything: serums, masks. Then I was like, ‘Okay this is overkill.’ I think that what I need to do is just go back to basics [and] keep it really simple. I just don’t use very many products anymore. My skin was fine when I was a kid, and the less you’ve got on your skin, the better it is. I always have gone back to that, and that’s where I’m at at the moment. Less is more, but it might change,” she said.
Dua “always, always” travels with her yoga mat, she revealed to Vogue in her 73 Questions interview. “What’s the most difficult yoga pose that you’ve mastered?” the interviewer Joe Sabia asked her. Crow pose into a headstand, she responded. The tricky move involves balancing your knees on your elbows as you crouch forward on your hands, eventually transforming into a headstand.
Dua is all about a simple self care routine. She told Elle that it starts with “Taking your vitamins and getting sleep,” and a few other things. “That’s what I’ve realized allows me to keep my stamina up. I do yoga every day, but other than that, it’s really important for me to try and get enough sleep”
Connecting with nature is meditative for Dua, she explained to Vogue Australia. “There is something about being at one with nature, and feeling the power and strength of your surroundings,” she said. “It’s empowering. It makes you feel so small in the vastness of this intense space, and it’s really powerful. In that moment, you actually feel what freedom is.”
Dua prefers short but intense bursts of exercise. She told Vogue that she does 15-minute intervals of mountain climbers, jumping jacks, and burpees. “It’s high-intensity interval training, but it’s so quick, it’s over before it’s even started!” she said. “I’m still trying to see what my boundaries are and how far I can push myself and when I need to rest.”
Dua also makes sure to connect with herself. “I’m an extrovert’s extrovert. I like being around people, it gives me comfort, I enjoy it….” she trails off. “But now I’m really learning to spend time alone. I love just being comfortable in my own time and in my own space,” she told Vogue Australia.
