Actress Ciara Hanna (“Power Rangers MegaForce”) chatted about her new movie “Stars Fell Again,” which is in theaters and on digital February 3 via Samuel Goldwyn Films.
‘Stars Fell Again’
In this film, Bryce (James Maslow) is ready to propose to Madison (Ciara Hanna) while they visit her family for Christmas; however, the spontaneous wedding of Madison’s sister Harper throws Bryce’s perfect proposal plans into a tailspin.
“This movie was a lot of fun,” she admitted. “We weren’t expecting a sequel because we gave a conclusion to the first film but it did very well so it was really cool to do this sequel. The team was amazing and the crew was awesome. I’ve known James Maslow for a long time, he’s amazing.”
She was drawn to her character, Madison, for several reasons. “Madison was a lot like me as a person because I’m very happy, I like to have fun, and I try to find the positive side of everything,” she said.
“The hardest part for me was that my character was very talented musically and dance-wise. I grew up doing that but I hadn’t practiced those skills as an adult so it was actually hard for me to channel that and I got insecure while filming it. I had to go through weeks and weeks of training for tap-dancing and it turned out really awesome.”
“I liked my character because she pushed me, as a person, in real life,” she added.
The trailer for “Stars Fell Again” is available below.
‘The Bay’
Most recently, she played the role of Marly Garrett Nelson in the daytime drama series “The Bay.” “I’ve known Gregori and Kristos for a long time now. It has been fun to be on that show with them. The whole cast and crew was sweet. I had a lot of fun and I got to play a ghost,” she said.
“Working with Mary Beth Evans was great, she was very sweet. I had a lot of fun working on that set,” she said.
‘Power Rangers MegaForce’
For Hanna, it was “super mega awesome” to play the Yellow Power Ranger Gia in “Power Rangers MegaForce.” “It was very intimidating and that was one of the coolest moments. Gia is a lot of me but she is the tougher side of me,” she said.
“It was a dream come true honestly. It was the most life-changing and most life-altering career moment for me. Luckily, I didn’t just join a cast or a show, I joined a franchise and movement. We were a giant big family,” she said.
“It was amazing, and I am so grateful every single day for it,” she added.
Andrew Gray
Hanna had incredible words about her “Power Rangers MegaForce” co-star Andrew Gray. “I love Andrew, he is our Red Ranger, he is very loving and spiritual. We got to live together, have meals together, we’ve traveled together and we wakes up beautiful every day. We are family, for better or worse,” she exclaimed.
On the title of the current chapter of her life, Hanna said, “Acceptance.” “Accepting where I am and the people around me, and accepting myself and moving forward with that,” she said.
Remembering Jason David Frank
She fondly remembered the late but great Jason David Frank, who recently passed away at the age of 49. “It has been tough and different. The hardest part was watching his family go through it and the fans. It was very moving to see everyone come together to honor him.”
“Jason made an impact on so many people’s lives, he was everyone’s hero and he is legendary. I remember the first time meeting Jason and I will never forget it, he had a special place in my heart ever since,” Hanna added.
Dream Loud campaign
Brad Everett Young’s Dream Loud campaign works on preserving arts and music programs in schools. “I just love Brad,” she said. “I have been friends with him for years. We have the best time, always. He has so many props in his closet, I go in there and it’s like Candy Land. There is no effort put into it, you are in the moment with him and I get great photos. He had a big heart as well.”
Advice for hopefuls
For young and aspiring actors, she encouraged them to “never give up.” “It’s a very tough industry but if you really do believe in it, and you really love it, stick with it, try your hardest and train. Don’t give up and be the best version of yourself. Treat people with respect and kindness,” she said.
Ciara Hanna: A mom to a baby boy
Hanna is the mother of baby boy named Canyon Cruz Pino. “I’ve been blessed with this child, he has been the light of my life, and he keeps like very interesting,” she said.
‘The Call’
She enjoyed doing the thriller “The Call,” which was directed by Timothy Woodward Jr., and she had great words about the cast of actors, which included Tobin Bell as well as Emmy winners Lin Shaye and Mike Manning. “I played the girlfriend who had a car accident,” she said.
“There were a lot of good people in that movie. Timothy did an amazing job with certain scenes, and that’s why those scenes were the best. Timothy put so much energy into it, and I got to hang out with some wonderful actors,” she added.
Success
On her definition of the word success, Hanna said, “For me, success is happiness. Being content and happy with yourself and what you are surrounded with.”
Fans
For her fans, Hanna concluded, “The fans have been so nice and supportive. I don’t have enough words, I am just so thankful. They make me smile and I am so grateful to them. I’ve been very blessed to have people support me in my journey. I am honored and blessed, God has been looking out for me, for sure.”
