A YOUTUBER has responded to claims she faked a video showing a MrBeast Lunchly box meal covered in mold by sharing what she says is the unedited footage.
Rosanna Pansino went viral last week when she posted a video on her YouTube channel slamming the food line produced by rival YouTubers KSI, Logan Paul, and MrBeast.
In the video, which shows her unboxing a Lunchly meal, she reveals that the mozzarella cheese inside appears to be covered in blue mold.
Pansino branded the snack kit “disgusting” after finding mold inside it, despite it being weeks within its best-before date.
“I was filming a video comparing Lunchables to Lunchly and was shocked when I opened ‘The Pizza’ Lunchly,” she wrote.
“The cheese had MOULD! The expiration date was still two months away! I checked online and found at least a dozen other people posting that their Lunchlys were mouldy too.”
She went on to share further pictures of the product, adding, “Please be careful everyone. This is not safe and not okay. Especially for children!”
Lunchly was launched last month as a “healthier” alternative to traditional lunch kits such as Lunchables.
The pre-packed school lunches created by the influencer trio include a chocolate bar, a processed food option – either The Pizza, Turkey Stack ‘Ems, or Fiesta Nachos – and a bottle of Prime Hydration, the drink marketed by the YouTubers.
In a promotional video for “The Pizza,” MrBeast, real name James Donaldson, boasted that the lunch kit “uses real cheese.”
But it has faced criticism over allegations about its quality and safety since the start.
Nika Padja, from youth campaign group Bite Back, said, “Lunchly is the latest example of products that are high in fat, salt or sugar targeting young people, and it’s particularly worrying to see it being pushed by social media stars who are so influential to children.”
Following Pansino’s original video of the “moldy” Pizza kit, she was accused by MrBeast fans of faking the mold.
In a response video on Monday evening, she shared what she says was the unedited footage.
“Well, here you go,” she wrote on X as she posted the clip.
Referring to MrBeast fans’ doubts, she added, “I’m sure they will still not believe this is real, but maybe the dozens of other videos online showing moldy mozzarella cheese in Luchly’s will convince them.
“Again, please be careful eating these if you have them.”
MrBeast’s cheese controversy
YOUTUBER MrBeast has been slammed over his new Lunchly snack kits.
Lunchly, a ready-to-eat meal pack, was designed by YouTubers MrBeast, Logan Paul, and KSI.
When it was launched last week, it was marketed as a healthier alternative to other prepackaged meals such as Lunchables.
But it has faced accusations of being poor quality and unhealthy.
In addition, many influencers have shared videos of them opening Lunchly meals reportedly covered in mold.
A spokesperson for Lunchly responded to the claims.
“All Lunchly products go through a stringent review process to ensure the quality and safety of its products,” they said.
“That process consists of multiple inspections and approvals, including that of the USDA, before any product can even leave the manufacturing facility.”
The U.S. Sun has been to MrBeast’s representatives for comment.
With around 320 million subscribers, MrBeast is YouTube’s most popular creator.
