Jordan Rudess solo album
Dream Theater’s longtime keyboardist dropped his 21st album “Permission To Fly” on Sept. 6.
The foreboding nine-track album is a soaring, dramatic epic that experiments with sound in ways that few other records do.
Take the keyboard and guitar solos three minutes into “The Lair.” These are departures that spotlight musicianship rather than follow a rulebook.
Go in with no preconceived notions here — this isn’t metal, prog rock or jazz — it’s a Rudess album.
