TOMORROW X TOGETHER Take On Madison Square Garden

On Saturday, June 1st, Madison Square Garden is a flurry of activity: It’s well before noon, and the storied venue boasts a line of TOMORROW X TOGETHER fans wrapped around its exterior, already decked in their concert finest. Backstage, the crew is  loading in the equipment and proscenium that will welcome Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai that evening.

“It’s K-pop time,” one of the crew members remarks to his colleague, wheeling a cart through the backstage maze. “Oh, it’s K-pop time, baby,” comes  the reply.

In the green room backstage, the collective excitement from the members of TXT reflects the atmosphere out front; it’s their first time playing Madison Square Garden, after all. “When we were driving here from the hotel, I was looking at artists who have played this stage,” shares Taehyun. “To see that we’re playing the same stage? It’s an honor.”

The pair of sold-out concerts in New York land close to the halfway point of the US leg of the tour, titled “ACT: PROMISE.” “We’re seeing our US MOAs get more and more hyped up at our concerts,” observes Hueningkai, while his bandmates talk through some highlights from this year’s global trek.

For Taehyun, it’s Tacoma, where the MOAs in the audience made such a ruckus before the show that he thought there may have been an earthquake. Yeonjun fondly recounts their night in Oakland, where the wind at the outdoor venue caused the confetti that bursts out during “Magic” to cling to the members instead of dispersing into the crowd. He and Beomgyu had no choice but to embrace it and model walk down the long runway they’re using for this tour.
