Sangita gets creative with exercise and makes sure to find workouts she loves. “I normally hate cardio, but I love skipping; I love doing double unders,” she told Canadian Living. Her least favorite exercise? “Burpees are the worst, but I know I have to do them because they’re so good for you.”
Sangita makes sure to stay properly hydrated. “I sip water with lemon all day long,” she told Canadian Living. How much water should you drink? According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day and women about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids.
Sangita maintains a protein rich diet. “I have a protein shake with a shot of espresso in the morning. I take that on the road, and that’s my morning start,” she told Canadian Living. “I’ll usually have an omelette or hard-cooked eggs for lunch, or sometimes I’ll have soup because I need more sodium in my diet.” And for dinner? “I tend to have some carbs in the evening, which isn’t necessarily the right way to do it. But I love basmati rice, and I love quinoa with chicken. I just try to eat before 7 p.m.” And, she never skips dessert. “One really easy, healthy dessert is taking a banana, slicing it open, spread- ing on some good peanut butter and a little bit of dark chocolate, wrap- ping it in foil and baking it for a few minutes.”
Sangita “hates cardio” but builds muscle with the help of Muay Thai “I started looking different because I’m getting a little bit thicker in the muscles,” she says. “It’s not that slim look, and I’m really proud of that,” she told Strong Fitness. “It’s just been such a blast doing it. It’s like you’re taking all of that negative energy out of you and letting it all go,” she said.
Sangita has a great workout buddy: Her husband. The two hit Crossfit classes every morning before work. “It’s something that just is a ritual, like this morning, with [daylight savings time], I still woke up and went to the gym even though I had to drag myself out of bed,” she told Stong Fitness. “It’s just something that I don’t even question anymore. So I’ve come to that point where fitness not only makes me feel great, but it’s part of life.”
