Eleven years and seven months after the release of Real Estate’s third studio album, Atlas, the band has announced a tour in celebration of the set. Breaking the conventionality surrounding typical anniversary runs, the group, led by Martin Courtney, will commemorate their 2014 release beginning on September 10 at The Bellwether in Los Angeles.
After opening up the run on the West Coast, the ensemble will continue their celebration in the Golden State at Ventura Music Hall in Ventura, Calif., followed by a final regional appearance on Sept. 12 at Felton Music Hall in Felton, Calif. They’ll jump coasts next, arriving at the Big Apple’s Brooklyn Steel on Sept. 30. The following evening, the band will perform on the Bearsville Theater stage in Woodstock, N.Y., prior to a gig in Ohio and Toronto.
Following their time in the Great White North, Real Estate will continue their Atlas support at Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 6, before their ensuing arrival at Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, N.C., on Oct. 7. The band’s final appearance for this tour will occur on Oct. 8 at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, Oct. 10 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, N.J., and Oct. 11 at Boston’s Royale.
In a statement shared by the band, they said, “Atlas was a pretty big record for us, and chances are if you’re reading this, it’s a pretty big record for you too. Nobody ever said, ‘I love Real Estate, but I hate their third LP, Atlas.’ And if they did say that, they never said it anywhere around us – and we read everything you guys write on the internet; some of it can get pretty weird.”
“And so, on this momentous occasion, we will be bringing A CELEBRATION OF ATLAS to a city near you, to honor its 11 year and 7 month anniversary. We’ll be playing almost the entire album in its entirety (basically) and other lesser known tunes from the Atlas era. We’ll also be playing a selection of our greatest hits, because we know you love those too. Please come and celebrate with us – we can’t wait to see you,” they concluded.
Atlas was released in March 2014, and recorded at Wilco’s acclaimed studio, The Loft, in Chicago and New York’s Magic Shop. The set peaked at No. 6 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart.
General on-sale for tickets begins on Friday, July 18, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
