The BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace celebrates Queen Elizabeth’s 70th year on the throne. Here’s who is performing at this Platinum Jubilee concert.
Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations are happening this weekend. The four days of festival will feature some of the biggest stars from the UK. Viewers in the United States will be able to watch the majority of the celebration on ABC News following an agreement with BBC. That broadcast includes Saturday’s mega celebration and coverage of the formal celebrations on Thursday.
Saturday’s two-hour Platinum Party at the Palace will feature some of the world’s biggest stars, including Diana Ross, Nile Rodgers, Queen and Adam Lambert, Elton John, and Andrea Bocelli. Presenters at the event will include Sir David Attenborough, David Beckham, and Julie Andrews. The show airs at 11:30 am PT. Other performers include Hans Zimmer, Elbow, and George Ezra.
Over the 2.5 hours of the live concert, more than 30 artists and performers will appear on the three-stage set up to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The evening will pivot around global themes that have been born, or evolved, during the breadth of Her Majesty’s reign due to extraordinary British and Commonwealth contributions including Fashion, Sport, The Environment, 70 Years of Pop Music and Musicals.
The following day will see the Platinum Jubilee Pageant take place at 5 am PT, telling the story of the Queen’s reign through four acts. Those include “For Queen and Country,” “The Time of Our Lives,” “Let’s Celebrate,” and “Happy and Glorious.”
