Last night, Phil Lesh & Friends kicked off their October residency at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., lovingly known as Phil-o-Ween. During the performance, the Grateful Dead bassist was joined by John Scofield, Eric Krasno, Karl Denson, Grahame Lesh, Ivan Neville and Mikaela Davis. For tonight’s show, Steve Molitz will join, while Neville will sit out and return for Sunday’s performance.
For the opening show, Lesh and his talented group of friends performed many beloved songs from the Grateful Dead songbook, including “Dire Wolf,” “Stagger Lee,” “China Cat Sunflower,” “Truckin’,” “He’s Gone,” “New Speedway Boogie,” and many more. To close the evening, the ensemble performed a funk-fueled “Shakedown Street.”
Photographer Dino Perrucci captured the action from the opening night below.
