Lzzy Hale surprised a Nashville cover band by joining the group onstage for an impromptu duet of Halestorm’s “Here’s to Us.”
Hale was enjoying a night out in downtown Nashville last Thursday (June 27th) when she and a group of friends stopped by Jon Bon Jovi’s new live music bar on Broadway.
Upon entering, someone informed Lzzy that the band onstage, Coco and the Nash, had just played a Halestorm cover, and a rendition of the latter’s “Here’s to Us” was soon to follow.
“I don’t know what came over me,” wrote Hale on Instagram, “but I made my way to the stage, surprising the band and the lead singer”
She continued: “We traded lines, harmonized and brought the whole bar together. This was the first time I’ve ever jumped up on stage on broadway…”
A YouTuber captured the serendipitous moment when Hale snuck up on singer Coco Groves mid-song. Groves was clearly shocked and embraced Hale before handing the mic over for the next verse of the song.
“It’s Lzzy Hale!” she yelled to the crowd in astonishment.
Hale also shared a clip of the duet on Instagram, along with the full story of the evening. See footage of Hale joining Coco and the Nash for the duet of “Here’s to Us” below.
“The stars aligned last night, and reminded me that we are all just humans who are reaching out for connection,” Hale added. “No matter how scary this world seems, music, art and connection always outshine everything else.”
It won’t be long before Lzzy Hale takes the stage again. Halestorm have an extensive slate of North American tour dates this summer and fall, including a co-headlining run with I Prevail that kicks off next week (get tickets here).
