Lady Gaga’s Free Rio Show Breaks Madonna’s Attendance Record

Lady Gaga made history with her concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil on Saturday night. With an estimated 2.5 million fans in attendance, the singer set a new mark for the highest attended concert by a female artist in history.

Dubbed “Mayhem on the Beach,” the free concert was part of Brasil’s Todo Mundo no Rio initiative, which aims to transform Copacabana Beach into a premier stage for major international music events. Gaga’s appearance transpired due to Madonna’s own 2024 performance at the venue, which previously held the record for the largest concert by a female artist, drawing an estimated 1.6 million attendees. Gaga easily topped Madge’s crowd, drawing 2.5 million attendees, according to promoters on the ground.
