Joni Mitchell took the stage at the Los Angeles FireAid benefit concert, where she performed a tender rendition of “Both Sides Now” with the accompaniment of Griff and Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, Lucius, Taylor MacKall, Blake Mills, and Abe Rounds. Watch the performance below.
The iconic singer appeared as part of a star-studded lineup that also featured Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Olivia Rodrigo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Stevie Nicks, Jelly Roll, P!NK, Sting, Stephen Stills, John Mayer, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Rod Stewart, and a number of other artists. The event was split across two venues; Mitchell was numbered among the artists at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, while others gathered at the Intuit Dome.
On the horizon, director Cameron Crowe is hard at work developing a biopic centered on Mitchell, which he recently revealed could be ready in time for release in the 2025 holiday season.
All proceeds from this evening’s event will be directed both towards short and long-term relief efforts, along with the development of strategies to prevent future tragedies of this scale. Those interested in supporting the ongoing recovery in Los Angeles can access a list of fundraising options here. Additionally, here at Consequence, we’ve rolled out a special “All for LA” edition of our Protect Live Music shirt, where 100% of proceeds will go towards the fire fund launched by MusiCares.
