WHEN it comes to ageing backwards, Elle McNamara knows her stuff.
The skincare whizz, also known as Bambi Does Beauty, has managed to reverse wrinkles and smooth out any fine lines thanks to her beauty prowess.
But the 33-year-old is often accused of lying by people on social media – as some accuse her of having Botox as she “can’t move her forehead or eyebrows”.
In a recent video, Elle hit back at trolls and asserted exactly how she “aged her face backwards”.
She shared her everyday beauty routine, which includes a double cleanse in the evening and lots of misting.
Double cleansing is the process of washing your face twice, and is hailed as a super effective way to remove all traces of make-up, impurities and pollutants from the skin.
Once she’s double cleansed, Elle spritzes a moisturising solution packed with skin-living ingredients over her face.
“Mist, mist and mist again,” she said. “Not just those water mists, you want one with hydrators like ceramides or hyaluronic acid.
“Because those fine lines aren’t from ageing, they’re probably dehydration.”
The beauty buff is also a big advocate of retinol products, which she started using in her late twenties.
Retinol is a fat-soluble Vitamin A that seeps into the deeper layers of skin to boost the production of elastin and collagen.
This creates the plumping effect that reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores.
It also has an exfoliating effect on the skin’s surface that improves texture and tone.
“This is the ingredient for that baby skin look,” Elle explained.
“You can opt for prescription strength or regular branded ones – I’ve tried both!”
She added that layering “hydrating products over and over” is key to a glowy face.
“I shove on the same serum five times in a row most days,” Elle said. “And use SPF daily as a preventative.
“I stopped buying the cheapest ones at the end of the aisle for face and body and now use ones formulated for skin on the face.
“If you have dry skin like me, see it as another layer of moisture for your skin to keep bouncy!”
