On April 20th, the 11th edition of the Platino Awards Xcaret will take place, recognizing the best in Ibero-American film and television series. A standout feature of this significant gala, besides the talent and glamour, was the impressive Mexican venue where it will be hosted: the Gran Tlachco Theater, situated in the renowned Xcaret Park, in the heart of the Riviera Maya.
Opened in March 2002, this venue was designed seven years earlier by architect Miguel Quintana Pali, who utilized a collapsed cenote area to construct an open-air theater surrounded by vegetation and bodies of water, taking advantage of Xcaret Park’s prime location by the Caribbean Sea.
The Gran Tlachco Theater can accommodate 1,800 people and features a modern sound system. These attributes have made it a unique space, one where millions have enjoyed a captivating show titled Xcaret Mexico Espectacular, over the years. This performance offers a journey through the country’s history and culture with an astonishing display featuring over 300 artists on stage.
However, the show on Saturday, April 20th, will be entirely different. All the guests and audience will gather at the theater to celebrate the best of Spanish and Portuguese cinema and television through 23 categories, including Best Film, Best Documentary, Best Director, and Best Leading and Supporting Actor and Actress for both males and females.
The ceremony will be hosted by Mexican actress Esmeralda Pimentel and Colombian performer Májida Issa, and this edition will also present the Platino Honor Award to iconic Argentine actress Cecilia Roth.
Among the top stars of the evening are actors like Carolina Yuste (Saben Aquell), Dolores Fonzi (Blondi), Enzo Vogrincic (Society of the Snow), Lola Amores (La Mujer Salvaje), and Marcelo Subiotto (Puan), who are nominated for Best Male and Female Performances. Regarding directors, Juan Antonio Bayona (Society of the Snow), Lila Avilés (Tótem), and Pablo Larraín (El Conde) will be present.
In addition to these nominees, the Platino Awards Xcaret will also be attended by numerous other celebrities who will present the awards. Presenters include Alberto Guerra, Alejandro Speitzer, Alfonso Herrera, Ana Claudia Talancón, Bego Vargas, Blanca Suárez, Cristo Fernández, Espino, Luisana Lopilato, Maite Perroni, Manolo Caro, Maxi Iglesias, Renata Notni, Sara Linares, Sebastián Carvajal, and Yalitza Aparicio, among others.
