Watch Now: Father John Misty Plays “Buddy’s Rendezvous” on ‘Kimmel’

Last night, Father John Misty appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform his jazz-influenced ballad, “Buddy’s Rendezvous.” The track from his latest studio album, Chloe and the Next 20th Century, merited the appearance of an intimate jazz lounge band– string section and all.
Although not an album single, the song gained traction following the release of the official music video, which was directed by Father John Misty’s wife, Emma Elizabeth Tillman. Moreover, the tune was released as an exclusive 7” vinyl and featured a cover of the ballad performed by Lana Del Rey– it is worth noting that the vinyl version was only available through a deluxe box set of the album.
Father John Misty is on an extensive tour supporting Chloe and the Next 20th Century, which began in late July and will continue through March 2023. After a scheduled show this evening in Los Angeles, he will make his way throughout Canada before returning to the West Coast and ultimately heading east.
