Indie rock royalty Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service just announced a massive tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their respective albums “Transatlanticism” and “Give Up,” where they’ll play both records in full at each gig.
This isn’t your typical co-headlining tour, though.
That’s because Ben Gibbard is the lead singer for both groups and will work overtime at all shows, taking the mic for the Death Cab AND Postal Service portions of each evening.
You read that right.
Each show will have a double helping of Gibbard.
Then, as a cherry on top, Postal Service member turned superstar, Jenny Lewis confirmed she’ll be joining the tour as well on Instagram.

Plus, New York scene kids of past and present, we come bearing even more good news— the tour will swoop into Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
Now, if you’re as excited as we are and can’t wait until tickets officially go on sale, you can snag seats for the show closest to you as early as today.

The 17-concert, multi-headliner run begins in Portland, ME, on Sept. 8 at the Cross Insurance Arena.
From there, Gibbard’s groups will head to locales like Boston (Sept. 12, Sept. 13), Philadelphia (Sept. 21), Denver (Sept. 26, Sept. 27), Phoenix (Oct. 3) and Seattle (Oct. 7).
Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl show on Oct. 13 is the last of the run.

Death Cab For Cutie 2023 tour
Before Gibbard teams up with, well, himself, Death Cab For Cutie is continuing their ongoing Asphalt Meadows Tour.
This run of shows, named after DCFC’s dreamy 2022 album, began in July and will run all the way to June.
They’ll be joined by opening acts Momma, Slow Pulp and Lomelda on select dates.

The Postal Service news
While Death Cab For Cutie has remained active in the 20 years since “Transatlanticism” made waves in the indie music world, The Postal Service has remained relatively quiet post- “Give Up.”
However, just like the actual US Postal Service, The Postal Service always deliver never “Give Up”— even if it takes a decade to do so.
Most recently, the trio that brought the world “Such Great Heights” and “We Will Become Silhouettes” conducted a tenth anniversary tour in 2013.
These upcoming concerts will be the band’s first since that 37-show run.
Gibbard is more than excited to revisit some of his greatest hits too.
“I know for a fact I will never have a year again like 2003,” Gibbard said in a press release. “The Postal Service record came out, ‘Transatlanticism’ came out. These two records will be on my tombstone, and I’m totally fine with that. I’ve never had a more creatively inspired year.”
